Synopsis
After losing his sight in a devastating house fire, former fireman Duncan returns with his wife Rosa to his isolated childhood village, dominated by his charismatic and unsettling mother, Eleanor. The community lives by an ancient pagan belief system centered on a mythic Great Tree, where nature, fertility, and sacrifice are treated as unquestionable law.
As Duncan struggles with blindness and guilt over a child he failed to save, he begins experiencing disturbing visitations linked to his past. With his heightened senses awakening buried memories, cracks start to appear in the village’s carefully curated harmony. At the same time, Rosa, emotionally adrift and longing for connection, is gradually absorbed into the village’s rituals, offered belonging and purpose in ways Duncan no longer can be.
As the Spring Equinox approaches, devotion turns coercive and silence becomes dangerous. Firegeist is a psychological folk-horror about control disguised as care, inherited obedience, and the terrifying cost of seeing clearly in a world that survives on belief.
A call to action!
We plan to shoot Firegeist with a micro-budget production in 2027 in a rural town in Spain.
