About us
What are dreams for
Hunyifilms creates bold, uncompromising cinema — films that cut through noise, confront fear, and leave a lasting mark.
To reset the brain, to clear out the mental noise —
or to reveal the deeper patterns that connect us all?

FOUNDER & CEO
STEVE HUNYI
Steve Hunyi
Writer, director and former psych medic
Founder and CEO of the company, He is a psych-medic by training, shaped by a small, conflicted Jewish household. Cinema became his early sanctuary – a place of emotional order and clarity amid anxiety and domestic noise. Classic films were formative rather than nostalgic: The Wizard of Oz, Singin’ in the Rain, Meet Me in St. Louis, Gilda, The Wages of Fear, and The Maltese Falcon. Through black-and-white television, film offered coherence, safety, and connection.
His relationship with cinema is foundational. It was his first stable relationship and remains the lens through which he understands psychology, behaviour, and narrative. Two recent years of intensive therapy clarified why film holds this central role: it is where empathy, memory, and storytelling converge.
He works intuitively and visually, with strong focus and creative drive. Socially reserved, he is nonetheless a collaborative team leader with cognitive empathy and adaptability under pressure. Curiosity, care, and commitment define his work.
He has made several multi-awarded short films, highlighting “Boxed In” (2017) and “Garbage Rex” (2026) and he has several multi-awarded feature length scripts. He’s going to film in February the short film “Puzzle Demon” and he’s raising funds with his team for the feature films “Garbage Rex” and “Firegeist”. He has also written and staged several theatrical productions in Barcelona, including The Toymaker’s Apprentice, a family musical exploring the dangers of indulgent parenting, blending the spirit of The Nutcracker with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Above all, he is a father to two daughters, which grounds everything he makes. Film is his medium, psychology his framework, and human contradiction his subject.
